Leanna is the daughter of Nia and Duane Wolf and was diagnosed with neurofibrosarcoma in May 2010. Neurofibrosarcoma is a cancerous tumor that typically originates in the nerves; it is considered part of a group of cancers called soft tissue sarcomas. Leanna is a 2002 graduate of Mason County Central and an All-American track star from Ferris State University. Eric and Leanna brought their first-born daughter, Ava Nia Geers, into the world in February.
Leanna demonstrated amazing strength and perseverance through this awful disease. Never complaining or feeling sorry for herself, she continued to be the most amazing daughter, wife, mother, sister, and best friend anyone could ask for. Her husband, Eric, stood by her side every step of the way as he worked to grow his chiropractic business. After multiple surgeries, one being the amputation of her leg, she continued exude strength, confidence, during which she expressed not a single ounce of self pity.
On February 25th, 2011 Leanna lost her battle with cancer, leaving countless hearts broken. "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened," was one of Leanna's favorite quotes. Leanna has truly been an inspiration, to not only anyone who was lucky enough to cross her path, but anyone who heard her story of strength. She is truly missed, and will be missed until we get to see her again.
